Therapy

My husband and I are having marital issues. Can anyone recommend a therapist who handles couples as well as individuals?

A Dr. Susan Mintzer, C.S.W., PHD, is psychoanalytically trained, in private practice for 25 years, specializing in all women's and couples' issues. She also happens to be president of her professional analytical society, besides being a great person. She is located on 78th and Madison and her number is 212 628 0717.

I'd like to add my therapist to the list of psychotherapists you're compiling. She's wonderful! Diana Falick, 212-496-8708, 140 W. 69th Street, #29A.

I highly recommend Dr. Barbara Blum 212 799 4607.

Specifically for observant Jewish couples:
Malka Harris Susswein, MSW, 914-646-5932, MHSusswein@verizon.net

I can highly recommend Amy D'Anna. She is located on West 79th between Amsterdam and Columbus. She deals with couples and also 'one on one'. At one point, and still is for some, she was the therapist of choice for many people I know, we just kept on referring her back and forth! Her number is 212.414.5328.

I couldn't recommend more highly our therapist of 2 years who was/is responsible for helping us through our darkest hours and helping us save our marriage:
Dr. Justine Donovan, 300 CPW, #1K, NY NY 10024, 917-597-4009
She did couples work for us and agreed to work one-on-one with me.

May I recommend, both very highly:
Dr. Peter Lessem - West 85th Street - 212-724-8741 - does excellent couple work (saved our marriage and got us through the IVF anguish as well.) Dr. Lessem also works with individuals.
Dr. Donna Orange - West 86th Street - 212-769-1151 - individuals only, I think, but especially women (long ago saved my life).

I highly recommend Dr. Emily Stein, 212-713-0686. She works from her home on 57th/6th and is very flexible with hours. Not sure which insurance she takes. She has been an amazing help to us and to me regarding various issues. We have gone both together and separately. We have also referred friends/couples to her as well, and everyone has been very pleased.

Dr. Judy Gold: 212-242-2468. She does both regular and couples therapy. I only used her for myself, but based on my experience I would imagine she’s also excellent for couples if that’s also needed. Intelligent, sensitive, and highly skilled.

Molly David, psychologist (individual and couple) bright, sensitive, thoughtful, down to earth. Can't say enough good things about her 212-666-6371, office at 98th and Broadway

I know of a very good couples therapist and I think she'll also see the person individually, but I'm pretty sure she's more of a couples therapist. Her name is Sonya Rhodes and she's at CPW and 88th St. Her number is 212-799-2826.

I can recommend two women who are on the Upper West Side and see both individuals as well as couples:  Arlene McKay (212) 873-5072 and Janet Benton (917) 658-5982

Marv Conan. Not only is he a terrific couples' counselor, he's a father of twins!
Marvin Conan, Ph.D., 320 West 86th , Apt. 4-A, New York, NY 10024
Ph. (212) 873-3468

I highly recommend Jean Ball, CSW, 917-513-6168.  Jean is trustworthy, supportive, genuine, empathic, sensible and kind. I am a therapist, and I appreciate and respect Jean's professionalism. As her client, I am also grateful for her expertise and sensitivity.

For couples - Miriam Schacter,  157 W 79th street. 212-580-5059.
